FDIC Vice Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg
Martin J. Gruenberg was sworn in as vice chairman of the FDIC Board of Directors on Aug.22, 2005. Upon the resignation of Chairman Donald Powell, he served as Acting Chairman from November 15, 2005 to June 26, 2006. On November 2, 2007, Mr. Gruenberg was named Chairman of the Executive Council and President of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI). He joined the FDIC Board after broad congressional experience in the financial services and regulatory areas by serving on the staff of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs from 1993 to 2005.
U.S. Senator Bob Corker
Senator Bob Corker has been invited to speak at this year’s conference as a member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee and a ranking member of the Special Committee on Aging. He is currently fighting on the side of community banks for passage of the Financial Regulatory Reform Bill to preserve our national banking system and protect community banks from predatory and invasive regulations by the federal government. In only two years in the Senate and as a member of the Senate Banking Committee, Senator Corker has earned a reputation as knowledgeable, effective and has quickly moved up the leadership ranks on this most important committee to the financial services industry.
C. R. "Rusty" Cloutier
Rusty Cloutier has served as president and chief executive officer of MidSouth Bank and MidSouth Bancorp, Inc. in Lafayette, La., since 1984. Mr. Cloutier is past chairman of the National Advisory Committee of Fannie Mae in Washington, DC and past chairman of the ICBA. For six years he served as director of the New Orleans branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and was recently named a member of the Nominating Advisory Committee for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and a member of its Energy Advisory Council for the term ending December 2010. He is a past member of the Securities and Exchange Commission Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies. Mr. Cloutier’s most recent accomplishment is his book with regards to understanding the recent financial crisis.
John M. Reich
John M. Reich, former Director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, is a member of the SHCPF’s Board of Directors. In 2005, he became the Director of the OTS while also serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Before joining the OTS, Mr. Reich served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the FDIC and has been a member of the FDIC Board since January 2001. Prior to Washington, Mr. Reich spent 23 years as a community banker in Illinois and Florida.
