HARRISBURG, PA - April 1, 2010 — Metro Bank today announced the bank is partnering with the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg and Lancashire Hall of Lancaster to help protect their residents from acts of crime through the Senior Crimestoppers program.

The partnerships, funded by an investment made by Metro Bank through the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation, will benefit residents of each facility by providing personal lock boxes, a 24/7 tip line, cash rewards for information about incidents of crime and crime prevention education.

“Metro Bank is proud to bring the Senior Crimestoppers program to the Jewish Home and Lancashire Hall,” said Metro Bank Senior Vice President and Central Pennsylvania Market Manager Steve Solk.  “We look forward to supporting the facilities as they work to ensure a safe and secure environment for their residents.”

The Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation’s mission is to provide safe and crime-free living environments for residents of nursing homes and other senior housing facilities. The foundation’s Senior Crimestoppers program has a documented reduction of crimes against seniors of approximately 85 percent since 1995.

Metro Bank, which opened its first location in Camp Hill, Pa., in 1985, pioneered industry-changing conveniences in Central Pennsylvania including seven-day branch banking, free personal checking, free coin counting and use of a prototype store design.

Transforming Lives

With the support of our partners, the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation transforms the lives of vulnerable nursing home residents. It is hard to overstate the transformative effect a bank can have on the life of an elderly person by removing fear from their lives — fear of neglect, fear of theft, fear of needing equipment and not knowing where to turn.
